Translation : यह कहानी है अब्दुल हमीद नाम के एक वीर सैनिक की। वह भारतीय सेना में कंपनी क्वार्टर मास्टर हवलदार थे। वह बहुत वीर सिपाही थे। उन्होंने 1965 में भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच युद्ध लड़ा था। अब्दुल हमीद का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के गाजीपुर जिले के धामूपुर गाँव में 1 जुलाई, 1933 को एक मुस्लिम परिवार में सकीना बेगम और मोहम्मद उस्मान के घर हुआ था। क्या आप जानना चाहेंगे कि वह भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच 1965 के युद्ध के नायक कैसे बने?

Translation : 10 सितंबर 1965 की सुबह थी, भारत पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ लड़ रहा था। पैटन टैंक की एक पाकिस्तानी रेजिमेंट भारत के खेमकरण सेक्टर में भिखीविंड अमृतसर रोड पर मार्च कर रही थी। यह चीमा नामक गाँव में पहुँचा था। यह गांव भारत-पाक सीमा पर था। इस सेक्टर में 6 सितंबर से लड़ाई चल रही थी। इधर, हवलदार अब्दुल हमीद और ‘4 ग्रेनेडियर्स कंपनी’ के दूसरे जवान पाकिस्तानी सेना का सामना करने का इंतजार कर रहे थे।

Translation : बहादुर अब्दुल हमीद जीप में बैठे थे। उनके पास एक विशेष बंदूक थी। पाकिस्तानी सेना के पैटन टैंक उससे ज्यादा दूर नहीं थे। वह चाहते तो टैंकों को अपनी तोपों से मार सकते थे। वह एक निशानेबाज थे, लेकिन वह अपने शॉट बर्बाद नहीं करना चाहते थे। वह अपने प्रत्येक शॉट के साथ टैंकों को हिट करना चाहते थे। पाकिस्तानी टैंक बहुत शक्तिशाली और खतरनाक थे। वे निकट और निकट आ रहे थे। वे लगातार फायरिंग कर रहे थे। बहादुर अब्दुल हमीद आगे बढ़े। उसने एक पाकिस्तानी टैंक देखा। उसने बंदूक घुमाई और गोली चला दी। टैंक में आग लग गई और आग की लपटों में घिर गई। अब्दुल हमीद की कंपनी के सभी सैनिक बहुत खुश हुए।

Translation : अचानक उन्होंने एक और टैंक देखा। उसने फिर से एक गोली चलाई और वह भी आग की लपटों में घिर गया। चार और टैंक देखे गए। पाकिस्तानी अब्दुल हमीद की कंपनी पर हमला करके उसे मारना चाहते थे। वह उनका सबसे बड़ा दुश्मन था। उन्होंने अपने टैंकों की बंदूकें उसकी ओर फेर दीं। इससे पहले कि वे फायर कर पाते, अब्दुल हमीद ने तीसरे टैंक को भी टक्कर मार दी और वह भी गया। उसमें आग लग गई थी। आग की लपटें आसमान में काफी ऊपर उठ रही थीं। लेकिन अफसोस! दुश्मन का एक गोला उसकी जीप में लग गया। वीर नायक नीचे गिर गया। वह गंभीर रूप से घायल था फिर भी उसने हिम्मत नहीं हारी। उसने अपने सैनिकों को आदेश दिया, “एक लड़ाई आगे बढ़ो,” उन्होंने उसके आदेशों का पालन किया और बहादुरी से लड़े।

Translation : दुश्मन के कुछ और टैंक नष्ट कर दिए गए। पाकिस्तानी सैनिक डर गए और भाग गए। भारतीय सेना का यह वीर जवान अपने देश के लिए शहीद हो गया। उन्हें मरणोपरांत परमवीर चक्र से सम्मानित किया गया। उन्हें हमारे देश के लोगों द्वारा पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ 1965 के युद्ध के सबसे बहादुर नायक के रूप में हमेशा सम्मानित और याद किया जाएगा। उनके नाम पर उनके गांव का नाम ‘हामिद धाम’ रखा गया है।
